We Build Real Custom Rifles

Accurate Arms prefers to build your rifle to exactly meet your needs, after we discuss what your want. There are a number of factors that affect the design and performance of your rifle and it's price that we must understand before we can build your rifle. Also, there are combinations of components that may conflict with your requirements and we will explain these during our discussions. (We do offer some "standard" models for those who can't or won't specify exactly what they want or need.)

Price Range: Our custom rifles normally range from $2250 to $4750 without a scope, although the use of specific components such as your existing action or special requirements can affect the price in both directions. Are you looking for a good working rifle or do you want a lot of bells and whistles?

Weight: We need to know your desired weight to help us select components and to prevent you from specifying components that conflict or will adversely affect the rifle's performance. For example, we can't build a 5-1/2 lb rifle with a 28" long barrel firing a magnum cartridge for extremely long range use.

Barrel Length: The barrel length has a great impact on weight. Although the use of fluted barrels and actions and light weight stocks can reduce weight, your barrel length is critical to the final result.

Caliber: The caliber and the cartridge you want to shoot affect both the weight and the performance of the rifle, including the need for a muzzle break to minimize recoil in lighter rifles.

Stock: Stocks can be carbon fiber, fiberglass, or laminated wood. The choice primarily affects price and weight.

Action: We can provide a custom action, a remington or winchester action, or we can reuse your existing action. The choice primarily affects price and performance, but can also affect weight.

Trigger: We normally use Jewell or Shilen trigger systems, unless you have a preference.

Scope: If you want us to include the scope, we will test fire and align the rifle with the scope before delivery.

Rifle Components

The following is a summary of the components we normally use when building your custom rifle.

BARREL: We prefer Lilja Precision Rifle Barrels on our custom rifles, unless you have a specific request, although we also use barrels from Hart and Shilen. We do this because Lilja produces the highest quality, most consistent barrel on the market today. These barrels come either fluted or non-fluted, in various profile configurations, lengths, and rates of twist. Unless you specifically request a certain rate of twist, length, and taper, the configuration of the delivered barrel and rifle will be determined by our discussions.

ACTION: Accurate Arms recommends the Nesika action for custom rifles. We also use actions by Remington, Winchester, Seiko and others upon your request.

TRIGGER: While Accurate Arms prefers the Shilen triggers due to their sturdy construction and range of adjustment, we also provide Jewell or other triggers you request.

SCOPE: Accurate Arms normally supplies a Swarovski Rifle Scope in the power range selected by you, mounted using Dave Talley Rings and Bases. If desired, your personal riflescope can be mounted, or you can select another make / model for mounting.

STOCK: Our product is designed to be the most rugged, accurate hunting rifle available on the market. To accomplish this, we recommend the use of carbon fiber or blended stocks. The carbon fiber or blended stocks will be delivered in a number of colors, textures, or patterns. We also use laminated wood for stocks.

Construction

We pillar bed each rifle, attach a muzzle brake, recoil pad, and sling swivels as standard features. The Edwards recoil reducer system can be installed in all our rifles, and is recommended for Magnum calibers where the customer does not desire a muzzle brake. Length of Pull adjustment will be made per your request, and the drop of the stock is obtained through adjustment of the height of the scope rings.
